The Woman
Behind MOKSHA.
Rooted in heritage. Inspired by individuality. Created with love.
A LETTER FROM THE FOUNDER
Why should we all
look the same?
Every brand has a beginning. Mine began with a simple question: Why should we all look the same?
I'm Gayatri, a lawyer by training, a mother, and the founder of MOKSHA WOVEN ROOTS.
Born and raised in India and now building my life in the United States, my journey has been shaped by education, ambition, motherhood, and a deep connection to my roots.
At legal events and professional gatherings, I kept seeing the same familiar blazer colors: black, navy, and beige. Polished and elegant, certainly. Yet I wondered why professionalism couldn't leave room for something more colorful and personal.
Why couldn't a blazer express not only our ambition but also our individuality? Why couldn't it carry a little of the Indian heritage I loved?
That is where MOKSHA began.

A LOVE FOR TEXTILES
Bringing two worlds together.
Growing up in India, I was surrounded by beautiful fabrics, intricate weaves, vibrant colors, and a rich textile heritage. To me, these materials were reminders of home, culture, and the beauty of craftsmanship passed down through generations.
I wanted that beauty to become part of everyday fashion—not only festivals and celebrations, but workdays, coffee dates, weekend outings, and the little moments that make up our lives.
I began personally handpicking fabrics from India, including Pochampally Ikat sourced directly from a weaver, and exploring how traditional textiles might be reimagined through contemporary blazers.
The idea was never to choose between traditional and modern. It was to bring the two together.
TRADITION, BEYOND TRADITION
Heritage belongs
in every wardrobe.
Why should the beauty of Indian handlooms be limited to traditional occasions? At MOKSHA, I believe heritage belongs in every part of a woman's wardrobe, from morning meetings to evening celebrations.
Wear Your Heritage, Your Way.

A NAME CLOSE TO MY HEART
Moksha.
A name with meaning.
MOKSHA was inspired by my daughter, Mokshika. Her name became the starting point for something I wanted to create with love and meaning.
In Sanskrit, moksha means liberation or spiritual freedom. Within Indian philosophical traditions, the word can describe freedom from the cycle of birth and rebirth.
For me it also holds a personal message: the freedom to grow, express ourselves, and embrace who we truly are.
A woman shouldn't have to choose between heritage and ambition, tradition and modernity, or professionalism and personality. She can embrace all of them.
ROOTED IN HERITAGE
REIMAGINED FOR TODAY
MORE THAN A BLAZER
Clothing that tells
your story.
MOKSHA WOVEN ROOTS brings together different parts of my life: my Indian heritage, my professional journey, my love for textiles, and the inspiration I draw from my daughter.
Every design begins with the thought of how a woman might feel wearing it: confident at a meeting, effortless over denim, elegant at dinner, or simply herself wherever the day takes her.
Professionalism doesn't have to mean blending in. Elegance doesn't have to mean playing it safe. And heritage doesn't have to belong only to the past.
This is a new chapter in my story, and I am so happy to share it with you.
Contemporary Blazers. Timeless Heritage.
