The story behind the textile.

Ikat is distinguished by a remarkable sequence: yarn is tied and dyed in carefully planned sections before the threads are woven into cloth. When the warp and weft meet on the loom, the reserved colors form rhythm, geometry and often the softly feathered outlines associated with the technique.

Pochampally Ikat is especially associated with the Telangana weaving tradition. MOKSHA’s interest in this story is personal: Pochampally Ikat is among the textiles the founder has sourced directly from a weaver in India.
